‘On the Cards’ competition.
I decided to undertake a brief set by Paper Rose and G. F. Smith Paper. The challenge was to come up with a new idea and designs for a greetings card. There were three catergories to enter: design & illustration, format & innovation, and technology. I entered technology with the idea that my cards could expand online and onto social media.
The competition was ran in conjunction with G. F. Smith, Paperchase, Greeting Card Association, Sherwood Press, The Art Group & House of Illustration.
Taking hold of the ‘selfie’, a craze amongst many generations which storms all social media platforms, I decided to centre a greeting card around this. The cards have props included as part of their design which allows the recipient to take selfies with. These photos are then uploaded online usingthe hashtag: #SaySelfie. Using twitter, instagram, facebook and other social media platforms, users can view other peoples selfies using the props as well as sharing their own.
As of March 2016 my cards appeared on the shelves in Paperchase stores Leicester, Nottingham, Brighton, Glasgow, and Tottenham Court Road in London. They are currently out of stock but will be back on the shelves of several stores across the UK in September 2016.
