Font Promotion

Brief: Pick a font of your choice and promote it to a design agency.

I chose a font that was released in September 2015 called ‘Firs’ which was designed by Ivan Gladkikh. The font has a Scandinavian heritage and Nordic roots which I decided to exploit. I researched into Scandinavian culture and design in order to showcase the font and its origins. For an outcome to be sent in the post, I produced a menu style format, starters, mains and desserts, which used the language of a menu to promote the large family of different weights that Firs includes.

The starter menu was produced on light 135gsm paper to reflect the fragile and light weight fonts that it would include.
The main menu was produced on a mid weight 270gsm to represent the regular, mid weight fonts. Finally the dessert menu included the heaviest fonts of the family and therefore deserved to be produced on the heaviest weight paper. I chose to duplex two pieces of 270gsm card together creating a thick chunky menu that reflected the thick bold heavy weights.
